After this season ...
> We lose six of our starting front seven on defense.
> We lose three starting offensive linemen and our two best starting skill position players (Z. Line and D. Johnson).
> We have Baylor, Texas A&M, TCU and Texas Tech on the non-conference schedule.
Now, will June come back? Or will he "retire" and leave this mess to someone else?
(Of course, June will come back. He's making $2.1M/year with two years left on his deal).
Thing is, after next season, he will have even less market value than he has today. And, much of his market value will be determined by today's result and a possible bowl berth.
Thoughts?

Re: WWJD
It's a good point. The cupboard will be bare in 2013 and June looks like a dead fish on the sideline.
Even with the dismal losses to Tulane and Rice, not to mention the early season blowouts, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see JJ coaching the Mustangs in 2013. At this point, I don't see how marketable he really is.

Re: WWJD
I do think he is in a win or gone scenario next season... regardless of the fact that we are playing a more difficult schedule.
We lose a lot of pieces, but the young linemen should be ready to go on both sides of the ball, we are good at LB even though we graduate everyone. Secondary is a lot deeper. And the young receivers will be ready to play. There is a lot of young talent that should be ready to play next season (assuming they don't flunk out).

I'm fine with that junior so long as he retires and lets our program rebuild

I'd be surprised if he's back next year.

I think that's exactly what happens. Retires on the spot. In Hawaii. Surfs off into the sunset.SMU_Alumni11 wrote:I'm fine with that junior so long as he retires and lets our program rebuild

Hahaha happy to be on the same page. Hoping we are a 4Q team not a first half like we have been (except the horrid Tulane game)

Re: WWJD
It might to be his benefit if he asks for a reasonable buyout from his contract. You are probably right, but if he heard hes going to the hawaii bowl against a no name team, he might as well say my mission is complete.JasonB wrote:No way June goes anywhere after 4 straight bowls, but if we get killed in the big east next year he won't last the season.
