Ah yes, those bastions of academic excellence. I doubt if Boise will get much interest if Peterson leaves for Arky. Their game performance and recruiting may take a big hit.

Do they recruit that well anyways?

No they wouldn't for reasons that have nothing to do with football

the Commissioner would but I'm not sure their schools would. Very possible that Arizona schools and Colorado vote No if it means losing access to California games. I think its short-sighted but its the common consensus. The Conference could well be deadlocked under their Bylaws against any expansion.

SMU just partnered up with one of the 10 largest corporations in America whose corporate headquarters are only a short drive from campus. Total dollars could reach $50M.

THIS is just a small example of what SMU & Dallas bring to the table.

Sure, take a Peterson-less Boise over us.

Nothing but lip service, Scott would have said the same thing if asked about El Camino JCs chances to get a Pac-12 invite.

There are a lot of Californians moving to Texas. That means a lot of Stanford, USC, Cal and UCLA grads are now donning Stetsons. That's a 1/3 of the PAC 12 and they would like to please their Texas alums and milk them for money. SDS gets blackballed by UCLA and Cal. Boise gets blackballed as well for academic reasons. That leaves in my view BYU which will be blackballed for their Sunday rule, UNM, AFA, SMU, Rice as possible suitors. The last four have plusses for the Pac schools. AFA has a loyal fan base and there are bases close to a lot of the PAC schools. UNM gives them a midpoint between Tempe and Houston. Rice and SMU are academically like Stanford and USC. If a major conference wants us, it will be the PAC and even then, its going to be a selling job on our part.

This is correct, and I think the Colorado President said as much publically the last time. But it might go deeper than the Arizona schools and Colorado. Obviously, we can't devine how the PAC schools will react to any future expansion scenarios. But I understand that there was resistance to Larry Scott's plan the last time around from at least two of the core PAC-8 schools as well.

I could see the Pac 8 schools willing to expand to 16 simply so that they can regain a true Pac 8 schedule. Additionally, every team gets to play in Texas or California every year and in Texas and California every other year.
