nightmare scenario for the Orange Bowl. NIU averages only about 15k attendance wise and will eat a good number of their allocated seats. Not sure how fired up FSU fans are going to be to pay premium prices for this game. And that's why the system works the way it does

This is an example of what happens when you try to "fix" college football.

This is the product of a BCS-created rule designed to incorporate TCU and Boise State-like challengers into the the system. It has backfired in a big way.

College football is too big and too diverse to taylor toward an NFL senisbility.

The BCS conferences have screwed the rest of us for 20 years and created a huge competitive advantage in recruiting because they control access to BCS Bowls which in turn has coerced massive realignment. The BCS conference are the ones insisting on undeserved guaranteed bids for their champions. In fact most teams given the opportunity to crash the BCS have proved they deserved to be included except for June Jones.

I agree with you. My point is that the constant tinkering with the system (motivated by a desire to make everybody happy) seems to result in a bonehead mistake every year.
