They turned it down thinking they'd get a better bowl. When Weedeater Bowl wanted a yes or no, they decided to risk it...but when NIU got into BCS, the cascade effect screwed LaTech.

I'm sure he's in discussion with much higher profile programs than ours.

Like Cal, and he interviewed for NC State before they went in another directon. We missed the boat on the this one.

Actually the Houston Cougars missed the boat on this one. They actually had a job opening last season and to me it was a no-brainer then. In our case it involves swallowing Jone's contract and then outbidding many BCS schools.

It could have been our case last season, the CoC would have had to swallow the deal but there wouldn't have been BCS teams to outbid.

folks we still have 4.3 M on the contract. He aint going anywhere unless he resigns.

If you think thats nothing, feel free to offer the buy out. Otherwise we can move on to another subject.

Looks like SMU is being held hostage by a contract buyout. So I guess JJ can sit back and watch the cash come to him.

SMU should have had an opening last year as well with the mess that went on.

Some of you same people would be demanding his termination with the likes of losses to those power house schools, Idaho, Utah State and San Jose State! Plus if he came here, he would immediately begin a personal campaign to trade up to a better program! Be careful what you wish for.
