a poor TV deal could be the straw that broke the camels back. This doesn't sound real positive.

Trey was using the powers of Gamehendge to allow the show to continue, to give the band the strength it needed to help break through this barrier
Re: Big East TV Deal??
MWC gets a fraction of that, sadly.
Some people simply forget just how bad it was...

Im gonna say done deal'd for a little while so you guys are just gonna have to deal with it ok.
I dont care about the money at all. I just know it was less than everyone was thinking and the MWC 16 sounds superfreakingallsome.

Living in Colorado, part of me would like to see the MWC 16. But i think i'd still rather go NBE if (big if) it stays as is member wise because of Big East Hoops.

Re: Big East TV Deal??
All joking aside, We seriously need to get with the MWC and hope that we can join along with BYU and Houston. If that were the case, the MWC would be the conference representing the non automatic conferences year in and year out. I don't see Boise and SDS staying for such a small revenue increase when they can make the BCS every year, stay close to home, and maintain their current rivalries. Quite frankly, I don't even know if it is still worth it for us to go to the Big East anymore and we are desperate.

We had almost that exact conference, remember? Then 8 teams left to form a new conference because they didn't like having to travel between Hawaii, Fresno and Texas.

The MWC is one of the best hoops leagues in the country right now.ColoStang wrote:Living in Colorado, part of me would like to see the MWC 16. But i think i'd still rather go NBE if (big if) it stays as is member wise because of Big East Hoops.
Think about how sick it would be with 16 teams.

Times have changed since 1999.
Plus no one has to send the volleyball team to Hawaii anymore.

We went through a wave of conference shifts in the 1990s that resulted in the WAC-16. Once things settled down, the mountain goats got restless and took off. What makes you think it won't happen again?Kynd Tulsa Phan wrote:Times have changed since 1999.

Re: Big East TV Deal??
4 - 5 million a year is still much larger than 1 million a year.

I have to agree with JasonB on this one. Going from 1 million per year to 4 to 6 million per year is not a small increase. I don't even think the MWC teams were getting 1 million per year. Plus the basketball schools help the value. MWC without the basketball schools does not have the overall value of the BE. And much better revenue than CUSA with UTSA and UNT in it.

I'd prefer going to the MWC if we could get a comparable payout, but I don't see it.

Basketball only has SDSU in it. I think Coach Brown would rather play Marquette, Villanova, Geogretown, etc.Comet wrote:I'd prefer going to the MWC if we could get a comparable payout, but I don't see it.
