Is it, or is it not, a priority?

Wasn't there some talk that they were going to put it where Westcott Field is, meaning they have to raise the money for a new soccer facility?
Or am I out of date on this?

we are finishing fund raising for Moody, 5 new dorms, new land on the east side of central, and a new tennis faciklity. after that we have to figure out where to put the soccer field and raise the money for that, along with a new natatorium.

A priority, yes. Ahead of all that? - No. It will be right after all of the above, which will actually be pretty quick.

Isn't the money for the tennis facility, New Moody and the dorms already in place? They don't put a shovel in the ground until they have at least 80 percent of the money in hand, right?

Great info. So what is the thinking for the placement of the new soccer field? I'd stick it on the east side of Central, that way students and fans could walk to food and beverages before or after the game.

Orsini always talked about an IPF as if construction was going to start any day.....that was apparently bs and nothing more than a lie to get more people to donate money. The athletic department has been misleading the fan base for years over an IPF. It makes it more diffcult on the coaches to recruit the top players when we do not have the facilities other tops teams have.

Step back for a second and think about what you've just said. We're getting the top notch Moody upgrade -- a top notch upgrade in all aspects of the basketball program, really -- the new sophomore dorm complex, the new Mrs. Bairds tennis center. And the swimming program deserves a new natatorium, there's just no way we can delay that any longer. To do the IPF, we have to move the soccer field -- so that requires planning. Do you expect more? Holy smokes.

No IPF at old Bairds site.

SMU brought their proposal to the city of HP earlier this week.
SMU has plans for a pedestrian plaza at the corner of Mockingbird Lane and Airline Road, next to the proposed tennis courts. The pitch was brought before the Highland Park public works committee earlier today.

Alumni will remember this spot as the former home of the Mrs. Baird’s factory, where many homecoming floats were constructed in the wee hours of fall mornings.

Part of the plan includes a vacant alley that SMU wants to turn into pedestrian access to the tennis facilities. A sidewalk and second easement are also planned for the Town’s use.

"Cathedral live oaks" and "double red knockout roses" are intended to line the space, staying on par with SMU’s signature landscaping. Sadly, it doesn’t look like there are any fountains in the works.

live oaks are overrated. too much shade in the winter and highly susceptible to oak wilt. go to Austin and you'll see acres of them decimated.

The story of why R.G.T. fired Orsini was because he was always pushing him for more

athlete friendly courses and the I.P.F.

I didn't realize that that had ever even been a possibility.
