Great NFL Draft Zone answer by Zach Line

Post by ponyboy »

Question: What would you tell NFL teams that are weary of taking a late round flyer on you?

Zach Line: NFL teams would not be taking a chance on me. I have been a proven player throughout my college career. The practice and game habits that I have are what separate me from the rest. I don’t expect to be given anything; I will earn my job and the respect from coaches and players. I offer exceptional work ethic and mental toughness that is unmatched. I just want to win games and help my team any way possible. I am a football player. I am an asset on offense and will be the first guy to step up and contribute on special teams. I will do all of this at a very high level.

Are they weary of him or wary of him?

Maybe Leary? Take Wary and Leary and smash them together, and what do you get? Weary, obviously.

Not the greatest SMU running back of all-time but my personal favorite 'Stang to watch play. Would have loved to been able to line-up in front of him. I can't wait until he is playing on Sunday.

As a side note if you watch our line play from the clip imbedded in the article of the '11 game against A&M you see what a difference there was between the '11 and '12 lineman. Along with the secondary we have to make big improvements here next season.

Josh LeReibus was so damn good. His agility and footwork earn him a paycheck. So will Zach's.

Great interview by great young man .. take notice NFL.

The combine and his SMU Pro-Day will be hugely important for Zach. We've seen what he can do, and we love him for it. But, there are a lot of very talented... big ... strong athletic RB's out there who can run. I think Zack might be a tweener. He is not a featured back no matter how much we want him to be, and I think he will have to carry what most FB's do to survive the punishment in the NFL (245-255lbs). Zack was about 242 when Shawnberry was here ... and there was a big diff in his speed then vs. know at 235. I don't think Zack is fast or quick enough at the NFL game to play at 235 and avoid/absorb the punishment he will get. The NFL game is scary fast. While he can play special teams NO Doubt ... with the kick-offs like they are now (vast majority are touch-backs) that is not as critical.

Zack is not Toby Gearhart as some have suggested IMO. Some have said Ratham and Alstat ... I agree with that. but they were both big boys and weighed north of 245. I think Zack will stick, because has the heart of a Champion, a warriors mentality and toughness, he is very coachable and fundamentally sound. IMO, Zach will be a blocking FB who will get touches and will need to be in that 245-255lbs range.
