Cool things about this year's Super Bowl

• Colin Kapernick hasn't struggled against any NFL defense like he did against SMU in the 2009 Hawaii Bowl.

• We never have to see Ray Lewis's stupid "I'm more important than everyone else on the field" dance.

• It actually feels weird to NOT have an SMU Mustang playing in this year's game!

Ray Lewis is one of the best leaders on and off the field that the NFL has seen. The dance wasn't about him it was to get everyone fired up. He turned his life around and is a true NFL success story.

There's no question he is a talented player, but he's just a nauseating person. Never mind his possible role in the killing (or the cover-up) at the Atlanta suburb (although if he were truly innocent, wouldn't his white suit have been found by now?) I just can't stand how he randomly whispers in interviews, he starts crying after he realizes the cameras are on him, he talks about everything relating to him, not the Ravens. And that stupid dance is annoying. He prances and preens more than anyone since Deion Sanders, Sr.

That is why I said that he changed his life around. Since he the incident he has been nothing but an example to other players. He changed his associations and no one works harder than Ray Lewis. Players on opposing offenses say that Lewis just out-thinks them. The dance is similar to some African American fraternity step dances and is not stupid (I believe Lewis is an Omega). Lewis a good God fearing individual no matter how much some haters try to bring him down. He has a passion for the game like few have. Glad he is in the Super Bowl.

You'll have to forgive me, but I don't think someone who changes their life after murdering a guy can be classified as a hero. Everything points to Ray Lewis' rehabilitation, which I'd love to congratulate the man on, but I think his only chance at redemption lies in forgiveness from a higher power at the end of his life, not a strong football work ethic or a Super Bowl win.

I have no problem with the dance itself, but there's a time and place. I have seen three step shows, and they were incredibly impressive. But my sister learned some kind of a dance in her sorority, and I seriously doubt she walks out to the middle of her office and does it so everyone stops and watches her. I hope what you say about Lewis is right, but I don't buy a minute of it. He's all about himself, and since he has already signed with ESPN, he's not going to be able to pick his nose this week without the network doing a big feature story to remind us how great he is, how he's going to the Hall of Fame, yada yada yada.

But I do agree with your thinking. No, he's not a saint, but he has made changes in his life since the incident. And no one has ever questioned his on-the-field work ethic or attitude. Not a role model off the field, but he's made changes in the right direction.

You may not have called him a hero, but you did refer to him as a "success story." If you read up on the case, there is more than enough evidence to strongly suspect he was involved. That aside, there is a tendency for people to paint his life as this redemption story where hard work ethic on the football field redeems him for any past indiscretions. This is only football we're talking about. Nothing he does on the field really changes who he is as a person (whatever that might be).

I really hold no ill will towards the man; like I said, his redemption isn't in the hands of us lousy mortals. I'm just resisting the selective memory that some fans and folks in the media are using to spin a more dignified narrative of Ray Lewis.

I'm sure 1st John 1:9 cheers up the guy Lewis stabbed outside the bar in Atlanta. Oh wait, no, that guy's dead, isn't he? (And Lewis has courageously moved on from that.)

I can always understand the pain and frustration for anyone who has lost someone due to someone's murderous hands but I also have faith in forgiveness. The skeptic in me always keeps the forgiving side of me in check and so should most of you. I think if ray Lewis was sincere about his transformation; he should be seeking atonement and redemption both spiritually and emotionally to the family who lost a love one or if this person was a single guy, Lewis should be working for some charity to benefit this person if he hasn't already. I have sincere doubt about Lewis transformation is he has yet to do anything to seek forgiveness and lead by example that one wrong doing no matter how bad can still be forgiven if work is put into it. Just my thought.
