I find it very interesting that big bad Alabama is #94 (lower than us).

Ugh.
Phil's right, I checked. 'Bama's out of conference schedule is BAD - they open with VT, but after that it's Georgia State, Chattanooga, and Colorado St. I think the CSU game is because it's got 'Bama's old offensive coordinator as their new HC, but, still, 3 out of 4 games in their OOC are simple patsies. Plus, they pick up Tennessee and Kentucky from the east, and combine that with Auburn tanking last year and you've got an overall weak schedule this year.
Sheesh. I usually defend the SEC's schedules, but this one is not impressive.

In fairness to Alabama, nobody wants to play them, especially in Tuscaloosa.

That's bullcrap. No one wants to play them on their terms - which are a one & done in Tuscaloosa. If they offered home & home series, they wouldn't have any problem getting quality games.Donnell88 wrote:In fairness to Alabama, nobody wants to play them, especially in Tuscaloosa.

Their schedule last year wasn't that great either....SEC schedule is diluted with additional teams and crossover games.leopold wrote:Ugh.

Also interesteing that the Big12 has all 10 teams with 8+ games against bowl teams and 9 with 9+.

6 2012 bowl teams on SMU's schedule. So we go 6-6? Continue the pattern of beating the bad teams and losing to the good teams?

It would be curious to see which games JJ has penciled in as losses. Guessing 1-3 in non-conference........PonyPlayer4 wrote:6 2012 bowl teams on SMU's schedule. So we go 6-6? Continue the pattern of beating the bad teams and losing to the good teams?

Still good enough to get to a BCS title game which is the ultimate goal. Let's not kid ourselves, they'll draw just as well for Who Gives A [deleted] State as they would for Ohio State and the like.

I always have a hard time with this factoid. Everybody beats the bad teams and loses to the good teams. It's simple statistics. We're no more predisposed to lose to a team better than us than any other.PonyPlayer4 wrote:6 2012 bowl teams on SMU's schedule. So we go 6-6? I notice that big, bad, always highly touted Louisville only plays 4.

Alabama tends to play a fairly hard conference schedule.

Re: Schools Playing Most Bowl Teams in 2013
It is hard to schedule in Tuscaloosa. Plus, just when they think they have a home and home the team backs out. For example, two years ago Bama played at Duke (in a jammed packed stadium) with the agreement that Duke would travel to Tuscaloosa the following year. It did not happen. Also, the student body will NOT show up for cupcake games or they leave after the 1st quarter to party. West Virginia and Wisconsin are scheduled at neutral locals soon, plus word is or rumored that Oregon, Fla State, and Clemson are in the works. Also, the Tennessee game is a HUGE rivalry event (almost as big as Aubie), and that game is outside the SEC West as well. Many hope the playoffs will improve these awful schedules.
