Wake Forest seems to have an active fan base. Aggressive. Assertive. Imagine that.

As a small private school in the ACC, WF has a tougher road. However, it is only recent history that suggestions that perpetual losers, such as Northwestern and Vanderbilt, did not have to be condemned to the bottom of their respective power conferences. As a matter of fact, both NU and Vandy have young, very motivational and smart coaches, who embrace their unique positions in the Big 10 and SEC. Look at Stanford for the last ten plus years.

These private schools sell their degrees and future career networks as highly valuable to recruits, who are capable of handling the academics and flourishing on the field. WF or SMU should not be playing victim but offer the better path and match for their students. (BTW, Northwestern's recruiting class for 2014 is projected at Top 20.) Fitzgerald and Frankln are in the wonderful positions long term. Progress, winning records and bowl games will ensure long tenures. At Alabama or Notre Dame, you get fired. Stanford, NU and Vanderbilt offer stability and coaching staffs that recruit and coach you for 4 or 5 years.

I really like Franklin at Vandy. What I wouldn't give for a guy that had that kind of fire and passion here at SMU.
