Re: Straight from the Hart 5-24-13
I still cannot understand why SMU is part of the Trinity Forest project. Does it expect to make money from fees/memberships? It doesn't even have SMU in the name. What am I missing?

Hey, he actually answered my question... sort of...
At least he knows the fans desire it, that's all I can do really.

Made it sound like blue jerseys are in the works and he is just winding people up by bringing it up but not giving an answer.

If they are really focusing on a consistent "brand" across all teams, I would like to think it will include blue, red, and white options for all - which is what most teams do already.Grant Carter wrote:Made it sound like blue jerseys are in the works and he is just winding people up by bringing it up but not giving an answer.
I just hope they don't come up with a stupid global font like Kansas did.

It would sure look good to come out in blue against the red raiders!!!

His response to my question was encouraging:
What are some of the plans underway to improve the in-stadium game experience at Ford? The most common items I hear from folks I bring to the games are lack of cellular/wireless signal, outdated TVs in the concourse that make the stadium feel small-time, and the often-mentioned desire for some sort of alcohol offering for those not in the club level. Are any of these going to be addressed as a way to get more folks off The Boulevard and into the stadium?
Answer: We recognize that fans expect to be entertained when they attend our athletics events. In particular, football home games are viewed by a growing number of people as a full day of social activity and engagement. This means we have to develop strategies for both inside and outside Ford Stadium. Over the last several years, The Boulevard has evolved into a valued aspect of SMU football game days. We do have some ideas, however, to expand and enhance elements of The Boulevard to appeal as a gathering place for our broad and diverse constituent base. Moving inside the venue, we have to transfer that excitement and social experience. The concepts you identified above are all under consideration and review. Upgrading the technology to include TVs and access to Wi-Fi is currently part of our plans for both Ford and Moody. The availability of alcohol in public spaces requires input from university administration and, perhaps, governing bodies. We're also in the process of hiring staff to create and execute marketing plans and improve the in-game experience. We will be diligent in our efforts to consider and vet all options to promote and strengthen the fan experience at all Mustang Athletics events. As always, we welcome ideas and feedback.

Re: Straight from the Hart 5-24-13
would be interesting if the Ponies came out in that classic blue look from the 80's to open the 2013 season. I'd think about saving it for Houston, though. I doubt it becomes a "regular" look. but nothing wrong with mixing things up to keep the home crowd entertained

We play at Houston this year, but I would like to wear the blue jerseys againstCharleston Pony wrote:would be interesting if the Ponies came out in that classic blue look from the 80's to open the 2013 season. Re: Straight from the Hart 5-24-13
I appreciate the blue jersery question and the fact Hart gave what I hope is a honest answer. I also hope at some point if SMU does wear the blue jersey it will be the official school color, Yale Blue and not the June Jones/Adidas/Nike/or whoever thought it was a good ideal to go with the Royal Blue color.

the blue everyone is pining for is the 1983 blue - which is not Yale blue but a more royal blue.

Re: Straight from the Hart 5-24-13
I understand that. That was a great color of blue but not Yale Blue. I just can not understand why whoever made the uni color decision can not at least respect the official school colors. That is all.gostangs wrote:the blue everyone is pining for is the 1983 blue - which is not Yale blue but a more royal blue.

We could always change our colors to "tcu purple" and "UH red". Maybe "army black" if they want to really upset some folks.
