Quick google search shows he was a defensive end. Was he recruited for OL?

Edit: Rivals and scout each say he played a different position. :|

Coach Suan recruited him for the OL from my understanding. At least that is what the young man said.

You better feed him 24 x 365 with a tube hooked up to a soft-serve machine if he's going OL. This is a DE.

Pursley says it will be OL. His coach also said that it will be OL. Both Scout and Rivals are saying OL. He has put on about 10 pounds and is now 245.

6'5" is a solid height. With our young line he'll have a few years to put on 30+ pounds, as long as his frame can support the weight. Ten pounds in a high school off season is a pretty good sign/start. I expect he'll be a hard worker, and the coaches will go from there

Summer is just starting. If he eats right, he could be 255 or 260 when he shows up in August. That's light, but it's a far cry from the days when we would learn about our new 210-pound offensive linemen before being assured "they'll grow into players."

Congratulations, Chad, and welcome to the Hilltop!

Wait. THis site says he ran a 4.46 in the 40. If that's true, and at his size, doesn't he almost have to go to DE?

He is not going to play a down for SMU for at least 15 months, more likely 27 or more months. Of course he can put on more weight, he is 6'5".

Well, we have another player that was 6'5", ran a 4.6 40, athletic as heck, and now we're wasting him at OL where he'll sit on the bench (meanwhile we have no real talent at DE in our 2 deep). So why not do the same with this guy?

Slow down there. We realize you're a big Holloway fan, but it's not like he was the next Taylor Thompson. He seems like he has some athletic ability, but he had played what ... 2 years of football? It's tall and seems like he can can move, but he was raw and developing. Besides, some very good offensive linemen started out on the defensive side of the ball. Regardless of position, your man Holloway has some learning to do, but let's hope he can make a similar kind of jump as he gets bigger and stronger and learns to block.

You don't know what Holloway could have done because he had not practiced with SMU until this spring at a position that he was not accustomed to playing.

Weight wise he would seem like a PB recruit having to put on 55 pounds. When you start have to put on that type of weight you never know how much of his athleticism and agility he will retain. I will be glad when we get recruits that only have to put on 20 to 25 pounds instead of 50 to 55 pounds to play their position.
