Re: Houston Top 100 List
Best I can tell, the 3 commits are offensive players. Is the Houston coach conecction paying off?
It depends on the quality of the athelete but one would hope we got at least 10 of the top 100 from the Houston and DFW market area. There are just too many quality atheletes in those two markets to ignore.

Had to keep it going.

Re: Houston Top 100 List
they are all teammates of Minor and Lancaster who played in 5A championship at Houston Lamar. Jason Phillips recruited them. He's been struggling at other greater Houston schools though. We are recruiting some others on list but at first glance I don't see any other SMU targets right now that we are likely to get. I know we had pretty good shots at Enwere (Cal), Lewis (Baylor) and Klingler (Rice), Singleton (Utah), Zamora (Baylor), Williams (UH) and Adams (UH) . Oh I think we are still recruiting Kalu too I believe. Had good shot at uncommitted Cole Anderson too but he basically said we dropped the ball from his perspective. Bonney also from Lamar is another kid we'd love to get but he's a national recruit and reports aren't promising-may end up at UCLA

Here's an East Texas list-we've got 2 commitments from kids with no offers -Jefferson and Rhone and very possibly could get Kade Clayton and Ausborne who have no other offers. Pretty typical we don't outecruit teams -we evaluate and generally get commitments from kids with few offers.

I only care how good they are after a couple of years growing and being taught. Higher level of earlier acquired raw physical attributes would be nice but I do believe this staff has shown ability at developing players.

Re: Houston Top 100 List
I think the break-up of the Big East hurts a little but it does seem the coaches are generally lazy (June Jones in particular) when it comes to recruiting. June has yet to hire some young assistants such as former NFL players or big-time college players that can connect better with the high school kids. June hires too many of his over-the-hill buddies that use SMU as their last job before retirement. I am still disappointed Klemm left.
