OT - Brian Banks

Post by leopold »

I know this is off-topic, but I had to bring it up.

Brian Banks is the player who was wrongfully imprisoned for raping a girl while he was still in High School:

Long story short, he got out, was proven innocent, and the Atlanta Falcons signed him as a free agent. Well, let's be honest: It was nice to be given a chance, but he was never going to make it on an NFL field given that he's been out of the game for, like, 10 years or whatever and never played a down of college ball. Plus, I think he was a WR in high school and he's been tried as a LB with the Falcons.

He's 28 now, and maybe he doesn't want a chance to play college ball, but he needs to petition the NCAA for a chance to play at a school somewhere. This is absolutely a special case and he needs to be given a real chance to play ball, not just be treated like a charity case.

I understand what you're saying, but one you go to the NFL (or try to), there's no going back. Remember when Mike Williams declared for the draft after the first ruling in the Maurice Clarrett case? Without even doing anything he wasn't allowed to go back after the ruling was overturned (which I found absurd). But that's the NCAA for you.

It would be a nice story though. Sucks so bad for this guy.
