So I have been watching that section remain empty year after year.

I have been watching that section evacuate after most if not all Halftimes.

Last night I thought was going to be different --- mentioned to my buddies that this was the best and biggest Student turnout I had ever seen. Love the all white, assuming Hart passed out T-shirts.

Love it - that's how it works at 90% of NCAA programs that call themselves real.

BUT THEN IT HAPPENED --- 4 PT BALLGAME AND NO LESS THAN HALF THE STUDENTS LEAVE???

They're kids and they're bored. They have eyes and realize we aren't competing. It's a Me-culture and so if they aren't getting satisfaction, they'll move on. The irony is that June's offense was supposed to be exciting and keep us in games so this wouldn't happen.

They shut down the BLVD 30 mins before kickoff and frats are not allowed to have bus parties for the first 6 weeks of school. Not to mention that like half of them are on differed suspension right now. Your right about the symptom but wrong about the cause.

There's a lot to be said for the poor product on the field as well. 9 points at halftime. I was only able to watch until the 3 quarter after they took the touchdown from us and then tech scored. If the coach doesnt put in the effort required, what should we expect of the students? Put a good product out there and there will be plenty of demand. Marketing 101.

More would stay if we had actual cell phone coverage in the stadium. Like it or not, today's students like to be connected to the rest of the world 24/7.

I stayed until we went down three possessions. A lot of people left by halftime, but in the end of the day there is nothing I can do to stop them, at the end of the game when the people who left early asked me how the game was all I get to say is I was hot and sweaty and our team looked like S*#@.

Score doesn't matter because they don't care about SMU football. If they aren't invested in the outcome a close game means nothing

FACT: most of the students come from a private high school, therefore they don't give a [deleted] about football. Admit more TEXAS students.

That point made earlier about cell phone coverage may be factor.

I noticed really bad coverage last night --- friends next to us mentioned that.

Kids cant stay away for a 4 hour stretch --- cant do it.

Although when stadium is 1/2 full from now on that shouldn't be an issue.

I have met several recent SMU graduates who have told me that they never attended an SMU football game.

the evidence was pretty clear last nite when SMU was down 4 but right in the game. The only sections in the entire stadium with any substantial empty seats was the SMU student seats.
