Tony Eckert

Post by GoRedGoBlue »

Played in 2001, LUMBERTON H.S.

Now at Tyler JC:

Oct, 2001: Honorable Mention for the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Player of the Week Award goes to, among others:

Lumberton QB Tony Eckert completed 23-of-43 passes for 415 yards and three TDs in a 45-15 victory over Orangefield. Eckert already has more than 1,100 passing yards in four games this season, with 11 TDs, and has yet to throw an INT. Eckert's primary target last Friday was Keith Talbert, who caught 11 passes for 153 yards and one TD. Talbert added six PATs and one field goal.

He hasn't signed with anyone yet.

"Quarterback Tony Eckert, who went over 2,000 yards passing in the previous game, completed 14 of 24 for 259 yards and four touchdowns."

" It doesn't get any easier this week for Jasper with unbeaten Lumberton (5-0) and its highly-efficient passer, Tony Eckert. After backing up Brian Ware last season, The 6-3 Eckert has 1,376 yds and 12 TDs, with just one INT. "

Did he play else where his freshman year?

QUARTERBACKS
Lumberton must replace one of the state’s best quarterbacks after losing Willie Ray Smith Award winner Tony Eckert to graduation last fall.

Tony apparently signed late with U La-Monroe. Since Tyler JC listed him this season as a Sophomore, he must have played a year at U La-Monroe and then transferred to the JC for his second season. This means that he has 3 years to play 2 at SMU.

he definitely was listed in Louisiana Monroe's on-line press quide from a few years ago. The DMN specifically said though he only had 2 years
