Fun UT fact

Post by SoCal_Pony »

There are 4 B12 schools currently ranked in the Top 25; OU, TTech, Ok St & Baylor.

Of UT's 3 remaining home games in Austin, 2 are against TTech & Ok St.

Per Stub Hub you can buy tickets to either of these games for $9.

If I were Brown, I announce my end of the year retirement before the OU game. That way if UT were to win, it is an inspirational win for the old coach. And if they lose, more likely, they cannot call for his head because he has already announced his retirement. If he does not do so and UT loses badly a lot of his many years of good for UT is going to be badly tarnished.

Well they are just four years from playing in a national championship game...and seven from a national title...I think that at least gives us a $7, 20,000 fan handicap.

OU will win 45-24 and the 24 points come in the 4th quarter against 3rd stringers... btw no an OU fan especially not a UT fan. Also for fan criticism.... lets remind ourselves... HOW MANY PROFESSIONAL SPORTS ARE IN AUSTIN?! HOW MANY PEOPLE GRADUATE FROM UT each year? Case closed, next.

Dallas is a world city...let's take a look at Gerald Ford Stadium's competition on a Saturday:

1) Uptown
2) SMU Blvd. (nodding donkey, milo's, barley house, homebar etc)
3) The Boulevard
4) Greenville avenue
5) Northpark Mall
6) Texas State Fair
7) ESPN (if we get broadcasted)

Excuse or explanation?-neither make a damn bit of difference with regard to our future

Dallas has the Mavericks, Cowboys, Stars, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, UT, TCU (recently, especially in the suburbs) to compete against SMU for fans. We are a 6,000 student undergrad school...so bringing 22,000 fans to a game is not bad at all for a program that is not in a Power 5 conference and has proven to be mediocre at best, especially competing against BCS schools. I am confident that if SMU turns it around and becomes a 9+ win per year program and plays exciting football (getting a lethal defense, awesome running game, relentless passing) we can fill the ford to the brim with new fans from Highland Park, surrounding Dallas areas (Lakewood, Downtown, South Dallas, North Dallas etc) and the suburbs (Plano, Frisco, Garland, Lewisville, Farmers Branch etc. ( we can bring lots of these fans in the game by offering discounted tickets to their high school teams to come and watch SMU play) Oh and our Alumni would come out of the woodwork to support a ranked, BCS level SMU.

That will only happen when we get a coach with a staff that can consistently recruit higher level recruits, and then knows how to win with those recruits. So I would suggest not holding your breath at this time.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I agree 100% on that statement. JJ was doing a good job for our 2010, 2011 and most of 2012 classes that came in...consistent 3 and 4 star rivals recruits...then in 2013 and 2014 huge dip...worse classes than UNT. We did lose a really good recruiter to UCLA...but he didn't bother to hire someone else.

Y'all talk as if we're the only school with professional sports surrounding our school!
-Stanford
-Miami
-TCU
-Houston
-UCF
-Arizona State

I can go on and on and on. Please do not use that as an excuse.
