Does anyone know if he got the job because the other guy got hurt? Or did he just win the job outright?

Re: Memphis QB
I think I read the other day that they want the backup to take over this week based on performance in UH game-I'll double check that

Re: Memphis QB
The backup, if I'm not mistaken, is the former Tech QB who transferred, right? Karam or something?
I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer the tall freshman. Obviously I don't know the specific skills of either, but "tall, gangly and hopefully unsure of himself" sounds better than "seasoned veteran."

Re: Memphis QB
The 6'6 qb is Paxton Lynch while the backup is the Tech transfer Jacob Karam.
Lynch apparently beat out Karam in Fall Camp. I haven't really been impressed with his play other than Arkansas State and UCF. All we did was apply pressure to make him hurry and force his throws. He tended to pump fake a lot and will stand in the pocket most of the time until he finds an open man. However, he did scramble occasionally. A competent front 7 will keep Memphis' offense out of the endzone.
