They're playing a no name FCS opponent, in a 100,000 seat stadium, with a reasonable chance of rain, and they have a few hundred tickets left and you're calling it an attendance problem?

They're going to have more butts in seats for that game than we've had for every home game this season.

Alabama v Chattanooga -just more evidence that college football attendance issues are really complaints about the creampuff schedules schools are forcing fans to put up with at extremely high prices between schools that have no business playing each other. If you look at the real traditional, historical rivalries even among Texas schools there is no shortage of demand. In fact, the attendance at most schools is better than ever. Its the schools that have been left behind without those common sense, historical, traditional rivalries that are struggling. I wish I could but I'm addicted-but screw these schedules and screw the creampuff games so you can go to the Petunia Bowl

Re: Attendance problems in...Tuscaloosa?!
They've had some issues with student attendance a couple times this season and last. Saban threw a minor temper tantrum earlier in the year about students leaving early in a blowout win over a rent-a-win.
Amazingly, there are actually some Alabama fans that are just simply starting to get a little bored. They don't want to lose (and would be calling for Saban to be drawn and quartered if they did lose a game) but they aren't as interested as they were before they became practically unbeatable. When that happens, games that are going to be over by the end of the 1st quarter just aren't going to be a hot ticket... thus, 2 potential non-sellouts at Alabama this season.

Re: Attendance problems in...Tuscaloosa?!
I think as the years go on, we will see major programs downsizing these 100,000 seat monstrosities. The current 20-something generation would rather watch on TV or in a bar than sit in bleachers for 4 hours without a place to plug in their phone charger.
I read an article a couple months ago about the future of NFL stadiums- some league exec said in the future he thinks stadiums will be closer to 60,000 than 80,000 with more premium seating options and more open-ended areas with bars, standing room, party-like atmosphere, etc.

Attendance is and has been going up at these schools. Look at the facts not the conventional wisdom. And the last time Saban was [deleted] about attendance was because they were playing another creampuff-Georgia St. I believe
Let's look at Texas schools from a historical decades view:
UT up with bigger stadium
A&M-way up
Texas Tech-way up with expanded stadium
Baylor-way up-building new stadium
TCU way up with tickets sold in new stadium -down this year with no shows
UH-not fair to judge with nomadic schedule but they recently had their best attendance in decades
SMU-sold out against teams fans care about-and a masoleum against every body else.
NTSU-way up
UTSA-astoundingly good attendance for new program
Texas State-up

Bama will report 102,000, but in reality there will only be about 92,000 there plus the one hiding in the belly of the stadium. LOL

Agree! But we need to field a team that can compete with the other big 12/SEC Texas schools. Many of these games are just embarrassing. On-side kicks returned for TDs, punts that go 15 yards, pick sixes, dropped passes, poor pass coverage, tackling that resembles a little league team. We can compete with the bottom 50 teams, but just don't have the talent to compete with top 50 teams. If we're going to schedule them, lets field a team that can play with them!

No. We are all SMU fans. We are not in a position to alienate anybody, especially when we have trouble packing our house of 32,000 with 3,000 fansPonySnob wrote:Any chance you go back into retirement?feelthehorsepower wrote:Shut up man and stop posting ridiculous things that are irrelevant! Jeez!
