HOUSTON - The Reliant Stadium roof will be open for Houston’s regular-season finale Friday, UH and stadium officials announced Wednesday night. The Cougars, who will wear their alternate black uniforms, close out their regular season vs. SMU at 11 a.m. at Reliant Stadium.

With clear, sunny skies forecasted for Friday’s game and projected temperatures in the high 50s to low 60s at kickoff, UH officials used research conducted by the Houston Texans to make the decision that is intended to provide the most comfortable environment for fans at Friday’s game.

Based on work with weather experts and other research conducted, the Texans have learned that direct sunlight inside the stadium adds 15 degrees to the heat index and high temperature. Fans can find more information on the Houston Texans’ roof policy here.

Fans will want to arrive early for pregame festivities as Houston honors 14 seniors and two juniors who will don the Houston uniform at home for the final time in their careers.
