Not certain he would go. It would be his wife's decision. She is the one that convinced him to go back to Auburn. I could be very wrong but I just do not see it happening.
On an unrelated note, it was disclosed the other day that Petrino was Arkansas State's first choice when they ended up hiring Malzahn for his short tenure. Petrino's wife told him that he could not take a job in Arkansas so he ended up at western Kentucky.

Might be Mora currently at UCLA. But Malzahn is a good bet. His wife would be a real a hoot down in Austin.

Convinced him to go back to Auburn as opposed to staying in Jonesboro?mrydel wrote:Not certain he would go. It would be his wife's decision. She is the one that convinced him to go back to Auburn.

I think they should give Mack an extension. He has earned it and if he doesn't return it might affect their recruits. Until he got there they hadn't won a national championship in 20 some odd years. The teasip fans should be grateful for him bringing them out of mediocrity instead of bagging on him for not keeping up with Alabama and Texas A and M.
Actually I do want them to stick with him at least one more year. I love seeing them in chaos.

Hmmm. This is what our conference mates are saying about June.

He wanted Arkansas. Trouble he inadvertently backed into is that the Governor would not allow Arkansas to approach Arkansas State for the position.East Coast Mustang wrote:Convinced him to go back to Auburn as opposed to staying in Jonesboro?mrydel wrote:Not certain he would go. Honestly, I think Mack Brown has bought himself another year. If UT has a bad year next year, then the AD pulls the trigger.

Looks to me like Malzahn will be at Auburn for a long time unles Arkansas made another move. After all, in his first season he beat Alabama in a game that that will be remembered by Auburn fans like the 1972 game that led to the Auburn chant / cheer, "17 - 16, punt 'bama punt!"

Re: The new UT coach = Malzahn
why the hell would he want to leave Auburn? they have top talent year in and year out. If he gets along with the boosters then its clear sailing.
Auburn certainly is a bigger prize than Arkansas if one considers the last 30 years. A traditional powerhouse.

UT didn't change ADs just to keep Mack Brown, did they? If Mack ever had a reprieve after beating OU, the Oklahoma State game wiped it out.Hilltopper wrote:Honestly, I think Mack Brown has bought himself another year. If UT has a bad year next year, then the AD pulls the trigger.

Texas owes Mack a ton of money. He'll take some cush job and they'll continue to pay him out. Good gosh.. they're still paying David McWilliams to be on staff there.. I'm sure they'll find a place for Mack Brown.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
