What teams in Texas, other than SMU, do you guys support!

I was just curious what other teams from the state of Texas you guys cheer for! Obviously SMU is #1, but do any of y'all cheer for anyone else? I cheer for Rice, simply because I grew up watching them. I only cheer against them when they are playing us.

None -- the Mustangs are the only team in Texas. But I have reasons to NOT root for the others:

Baylor High: In one of the first years after we resumed playing football, Grant Teaff (who some folks swear is a good, fair, decent man) called for a pass on a fake punt in the waning minutes of a game in which Baylor was leading by almost 40 points -- went for a touchdown against an undermanned SMU team. Took a few cops to keep Forrest Gregg from beating Teaff's [deleted] at midfield.

Houston: I was in the Astrodome the day the Cougs put up 95 points on a team full of freshmen. I heard that damn siren in my dreams for weeks.

TCU: Enough said.

A&M: They're still Aggies. Call off the Bonfire.

UT: Sorry, PonyFanMan, (I know you're also a UT fan) but burnt (is that a word?) orange is ugly -- looks like someone got sick on the team's laundry -- and Bevo used to leave a mess all over the field at Ownby.

Tech: Lubbock? Ugh. Have they ever had a player go to class? Remember Byron Hanspard winning the Doak Walker Award (which supposedly includes something about performance on the field and in the classroom) when he had a 0.00 GPA?

I agree, especially about Baylor High. There's never been a school that "recruits" (fill in your own joke there) more talent and does less with it. Half their recruits end up in JUCOs. They're worthless. And even better, they have to live in Waste-o.

Best thing that could happen to them is that Teaff is gone.

Trinity University has been the most successful football school in Texas the past decade (albeit Divison III). If I'm not at a Mustang game, I'm probably in San Antonio watching the Tigers play. The rest of Texas can fall off into the abyss for all I care, and I'd be an excited fool if SMU and Arizona State ever met in some type of bowl game!! I'd support my bro and SMU but it wouldn't totally hurt my feelings if my alma mater won either! Peace!

Well said, Jettison. I almost went to Trinity. Small school, but excellent academically. Another school that supports athletes, but makes sure they go to class and do their academic work. They should be commended.

I used to root for Tech because I was born in Lubbock, but since the breakup of the SWC I pretty much enjoy seeing them all lose. I'll have to tell you though, the Baylor/UNLV game was my favorite.

The two teams I love to see get beat are TEXAS A&M and Baylor, no particular reason....

Rule #1 When a Texas team is engaged in battle with a team from outside the state, I always root for the Texas team.

Otherwise, I like Texas, SFA, Rice.

Love them or hate them, you always have to watch Texas.

Frankly I like to see the Longhorns kick the hell out of Oklahoma and seeing them deflate those Nebraska Cornhuskers is a real treat.

I subscribe to the Texas uber alles theory as well, but I don't mind seeing the Aggies eat dirt at the hands of UT and Tech.

Texas A&I used to be fun to watch. I loved those Javalina teams of the 1970s. Since their name changed to A&M Kingsville, they don't seem all that lovable anymore.

Besides SMU, I love UT and my brother plays for Rice, so I have to root on those teams. I grew up watching UT football and wouldn't give it up for the world.
