Who Attended the Louisville Game at Moody in 85
I was there as a soph. Moody was packed to the rafters. The Game was on National Television on CBS back when that was the only game on. Denny Crum was coach.
We smoked them and it was the loudest game I have personally attended at Moody.
Anyone else go to that game?

I was there sitting right next to the West goal on the floor. I feel like I had to get there an hour and a half early and the student section was full already.

I was there but I don't remember much about it. Wasn't this game with Bliss, Kato Armstrong,
Todd Alexander, and Larry Davis? Was Koncak still here?

I was there, was my freshman year, still one of my favorite games, us students were relentless on Crum, was pretty funny. Of course that was back in the day when the UP police ruled with an iron fist and expected everyone to stay seated and behave, I bet they threw out 20 students, maybe even arrested a couple.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

That's where I was sitting. Have sat in that head-bump section 3 times (Louisville, Arkansas, TT) - it is a long, steep walk up... and down.Treadway21 wrote: Moody was packed to the rafters.

I don't think Kato or Alexander were there yet. Larry Davis Carl Wright Butch Moore and Scott Johnson, I believe. The Falcon wrote:I was there but I don't remember much about it. Wasn't this game with Bliss, Kato Armstrong,

85 is the year a lot of the "SMU hasn't done this since".
We beat Carolina in Carolina and a few more big name teams.

a bright spot in a sad season; we had burst on the scene the year before w/ our almost upset of Georgetown. It was the year we played @ TT the night #2 had lost in the afternoon, and layed an egg in Lubbock, precipatating more losses. Carl Wright was going mentally and physically AWOL, Bliss was trying to keep the team together by creating "Carl Rules - therre were none, therefore he couldn't break them)", the team resented it and began playing like it. Still made tourney even w/ late season collapse and NCAA set us up w/ 2 gimmes to recreate the Gtown rematch. We refused to cooperate by giving a desultory and losing performanace against Ill-Chi.
But CBS came to Moody in the middle of it all, brought their own TV lights, and we may have rallied to play our best game of the season. Electric atmosphere quite similar to UConn game.Remember thinking we had spit out the poison. We may have gotten rid of a Tbsp but left a cup inside which killed out best chance for a long tourny run since '56.

I was there and yes the team was unraveling, even though they beat Louisville.
I think that might have been the game that Carl Wright was arrested for DWI earlier in the day and then bailed out of jail just in time to play.
Either way, it could have been a tremendous season but went down in flames.

Out of curiosity so it cost students money to go to games back then? When did they implement the free for students thing? (even though we really pay our ticket cost with tuition im pretty sure)
