RPI

Post by Pony_Fan »

This exerpt is from Excite Sports:

RPI TALK: If the Mustangs are going to get to the Big Tournament, they probably need to win the conference tournament.

Right now, their RPI stands at No. 85 -- No. 40 generally is the cutoff point for at-large bids -- and their 140th-ranked strength of schedule isn't real likely to improve over the remainder of conference schedule.

How does the RPI affect this, as opposed to the Sagarin ratings (where we're a little higher)?

NCAA selection committee uses RPI, not Sagarin, when considering a team's strength for at-large bids.
