National Championship: Connecticut vs. Kentucky

Post by B1GPonyFan »

I thought about this and am going with the Huskies. For me, it's very simple. When you have a warrior playing the point like Shabazz Napier, that means so much to a team. Aaron Harrison notwithstanding, Napier has had the best tournament of anyone. That's why he's still playing.

The NCAA tournament is about guards. Kentucky has two really good ones with the Harrison twins. But the leadership shown by Napier has been special to watch. Ryan Boatright's confidence is soaring as well.

I realize Kentucky has the size advantage in the block with Randle, Johnson and Young, but I'll take the Huskies.

Watching this UConn run makes you appreciate what we did to them both times (granted they weren't playing like this when we played them) and the job Nick Russell did against Napier.

This pick isn't about AAC pride. This is about who I think will win. But it would be great for the AAC should it happen, of course.

There is pride in conference affiliation. You beat us twice. UConn respects SMU and is proud to be in the AAC with you guys. We are going to have some great games. Hopefully we can eventually win one!

I didn't want to start a separate subject heading thread regarding tonight's game (attending and rooting for us) but if a regular here could that would be great. Kentucky will have a huge following. If any of you guys can show up and root for an AAC colleague it would really be appreciated.

Have a great day and thanks for having me post on your great message board.

Best Always,
Mark

Thanks, Mark. I met several nice UConn fans over the weekend in Uptown. Like you, they were very complementary of Dallas and SMU. It's great to be conference mates. We look forward to more great battles moving forward. Good luck tonight, and tomorrow night.

I'm pulling for UCONN, but gosh, I hope they are feeding Napier a little better during the tournament.

he sometimes had to go to bed "starving" because he cannot afford food. . . . Napier, who is headed into the NCAA Championship match-up against the University of Kentucky tonight, told reporters that it's hard for him to see his jersey getting sold while he struggles to eat.

Probably not that funny if you were in that position.

Go UCONN. And then polish the title trophy with Ron Wellman's tears of shame and embarrassment.

As much as I wish Wellman and the committee felt bad about the glaring mistakes made on Selection Sunday, I seriously doubt they do. Many consider this year's tourney as one of the best, most exciting in a long time. I'm sure the committee believes they did a great job.

Wasn't trying to be funny. If this is a problem, I sincerely hope the team is addressing the issue.
