Saw that, straight hypocrisy. NCAA fails again. Seriously, the rule is being changed this summer and they would really make him sit out the full year? This is a prime example of a great college player who would've probably come back now with no option and the fans don't get to enjoy watching him for one more year. And I almost believe his story just because I know scUM is pretty strict about suspending people.

First line:
Umm... no. He's the dipwad who knowingly used banned drugs. I'm sure he got plenty of paperwork from the university specifying rules he had to follow, and he chose not to follow them. That is 100% in his hands.
At least the kid owned up to it and took responsibility.
Much of Mitch McGary's final decision was taken out of his own hands.

Re: Don't smoke pot
From the Yahoo story:
One night in mid-March, with the NCAA tournament about to begin without him, McGary was hanging out with a group of friends at Michigan. He had a few drinks. Someone offered some marijuana - a common occurrence, he said, on campus.
"I always turned it down," McGary told Yahoo Sports. "But that night I didn't."
------------------
SO I'm just guessing that there was most likely some drinking going on at this "hanging out" as well. Probably some under-age drinking. Anybody test for that?
This whole thing really bothers me. It's freakin' college. You go there to learn…not just in the classroom or on the court. And the message here is way wrong, total overkill for the "offense." Three games sounds about right. But who'd thunk he'd be the one to have to pee in the cup after the game? That's just a crazy set of circumstances. I feel badly for him. And I hope his back gets better. Otherwise it may be wake and bake for the poor kid the rest of his life.

When he gets in the nba, they will suspend him if he tests positive for weed.

The world would be a better place if everyone smoked a joint every once in a while.

Re: Don't smoke pot
another example of NCAA being blamed for society's problems. NCAA rightful can and should punish based on use of illegal substance. Americans should rightfully re-examine its drug laws.

If it's illegal and you do it you run the risk of being punished. That's whether it's illegal in your opinion or not.

It's not like he was cheating, and gaining an unfair advantage. legalize it all and be done with this idiotic drug war… Oh wait, cops and prison guards would be out a job, can't have that!

Seriously, the biggest waste of money ever. A completely unwinnable war that a lot of other countries have legalized already. Would likely cut down on the drug cartels too when there's less money to be made in pot since it no longer has to be illegally brought in and the country can grow it's own product.
