Mickey Mitchell
Is there anything new about Mickey Mitchell or his brother? I have not seen anything
recently - hope I didn't miss someone's info which would make this repetitive.
Those two would be an incredible get for the Mustangs.

Re: Mickey Mitchell
I seriously doubt either one is coming here. (based on no buzz or rumors and someone posted that the bball brother was lobbying some recruit to look seriously at Ohio State). I'd LOVE to get the football brother moreso than the basketball brother (need the fball brother more). The Falcon wrote:Is there anything new about Mickey Mitchell or his brother? Really? Do they know that? I don't think this process is over yet.

Mickey is rumored to still be solid for Ohio State. This surprised me given his brother's decision to leave but allegedly the case. Not sure where the older brother is transferring though.

Believe Mike was down to Tech, Baylor, and a&M for his transfer

Re: Mickey Mitchell
I never thought we had a chance to get either (ESPECIALLY the fball brother who we need a lot more). I'm not sold on the bball brother (plays light out on the high school level, but not sure how his game translates - he's just simpler bigger on the high school level).
I bet the brother ends up at Baylor.
And all of this is a damn shame. They both should be lined up begging to come to SMU. But we just aren't there, especially for football.

Re: Mickey Mitchell
I watched Mickey play a high school playoff game when he was a freshman with Zach Peters (former KU recruit, now at Arizona) and Julius Randle on that team. He completely dominated that game from the opening tip and looked ten times the player of Peters or Randle. I can see what you mean about his game not translating as well to college, but man he was a beast of a HS freshman.ojaipony wrote: I'm not sold on the bball brother (plays light out on the high school level, but not sure how his game translates

Re: Mickey Mitchell
I saw him play his final game for Plano West in the state tournament. Keep in mind that he had
been injured for the last part of the season and the coach appeared to not want him to play so
that he wouldn't further aggravate the injury. In the 4th quarter of the game West was trailing
but was in striking range and suddenly Mickey was in the game and completely dominated the
game on both ends of the floor. He slashed the basket and scored and after a steal he slammed
one - he blocked a shot at the other end of the floor and in other words for the short couple of
minutes he played, he was sensational. West narrowly lost the game but Mickey gave it all he had. If his injury has healed, I doubt that there is a big time coach who wouldn't want him. It will be our loss if he goes elsewhere.

He dominated both sides of the ball in the last 8 minutes of their last playoff game, and he had not played in forever before that appearance. He's a game changer, just my 2 cents from my limited viewing.
And he was very physical in those 8 minutes.

He left off an "s". "He plays lights out". It was a compliment of his high school playing.PonyKris89 wrote:Not sure what you mean by "light".ojaipony wrote:I never thought we had a chance to get either (ESPECIALLY the fball brother who we need a lot more). Ha! Thanks Mrydel, I'm a bit slow some times!
Anyway, his game will translate quite well to college, IMO

Actually, what he was saying was that in high school he had developed the talent for
turning out the light in the gym with 2 minutes left in the game.
