Putting up a statue of someone that is alive is asking for trouble. See Paterno, Joe

I used the example of Jordan because CalallenStang posted that putting up a statue of someone alive was asking for trouble. I wasn't comparing RG3 to MJ.

And Bama has one of Saban.

99% of the time, it works out.

But I wouldn't endorse having a statue of anyone living.

Glorifying someone who could make a huge mistake (whether intentional or not) and bring shame to your entire university/organization is spending money to take a huge risk with only a small reward

My original point was just to demonstrate he difference in the history of the two programs. We have Doak walker. They're selling rgiii. If he warrants a statute then we can sell so much more.

Rgiii couldn't hold a jock strap to Doak or Dickerson for that matter

Heisman trophy winner is a Heisman trophy winner. If you are going to mock Baylor having a Heisman winner in the modern era of college football, my guess is that for everyone one person who thinks like you do, there are probably 10 people mocking SMU for living in yesteryear and putting that statue of Doak up so many years after the fact. Let's just be proud we have some past football history to look back on. Give Baylor their due...they have a present

Give me a break. Who in their right mind would make fun of Doak walker? Who makes fun of the all time greats???

They can sell rgiii because that is all they have. Good for them but We can sell more if the HC would give a damn.

Probably easier to sell RG3 today than it is trying to sell Doak Walker.

My guess is they're capitalizing on momentum while they have it...
