Future SMU OOC
Any idea when we will be hearing who is in our OOC in the future, apart from that Michigan game, the 2 remaining BU games, UNT and TCU home and homes, there isn't much info out there.

I do not know about ours but Texas just announced home and home with Michigan for 2024 and 2027. That is stretching it out some.

Yes, I received the ESPN alert about that, which prompted me to wonder why we haven't heard anything from our AD. Only basketball OOC announcements.

It will be interesting to see how the final OOC game is filled. Does SMU bring a FCS school for a (presumably) easy win? Or will they be willing to take a check to play a big school on the road?

I would rather play Iowa State/Kansas or Kentucky/Vanderbilt or Wake/Duke, not any more CUSA teams. Winnable P5 games. Keeping Baylor, TCU and North Texas, as well for attendance.

Re: Future SMU OOC
I've said this before on other sites, but I agree with Stallion that crappy P-5's won't draw fans in Dallas (I don't consider Ole Miss crappy, but the others mentioned I do). We need two decent OOC gate draws each year. UNT is good enough to satisfy the draw, don't think UTSA would be though. So, if your other OOC is not a P5 former SWC, I think BYU would make a lot of sense because they are desperate to schedule mid to late season games, plus they would be a decent draw, not TCU or A&M or Baylor, but a slightly more winnable decent draw - 25,000 butts in seats at least and 30000 tix sold I think. We can't afford a Sam Houston State or McNeese on the attendance side, plus we might lose anyway right now.

I'm with you on this. I am sick of Baylor and NTSU. I'd like to be beaten by someone else.

Also, are we certain TCU-SMU renew the iron skillet?
Stephen F Austin was a decent draw a few years back and we did pound them. Maybe have them come here every year for an extra home game.

Check the attendance at Junes's last game at UNT. Outside of the debacle in Denton back in 2006 which drew 25K, there hasn't been a game between the two schools post DP that even sniffed 23K in attendance.

I agree with AusTxPony but I also believe SMU needs to make sure the future OCC teams they schedule will be teams that bring fans or already have a good alumni base in DFW.
GO MUSTANGS!

0-4 is a good way to build a fan base.
