Rivals/Scout - BBALL

Post by Tbuck12 »

Now that Rivals seems to have gotten its act together and Scout appears to be well run.

I wanted to ask those who are dual subscribers which one has the 1) best content and 2) best community of posters.

I was on Rivals for a few years but dropped about 5-6 months ago due to quality.

Both are now run by SMU people that are doing a good job. Lots of good discussions on Rivals since Adam took over and Billy might be the best publisher that Scout has had at SMU. Quality has really gone up since Adam took over Rivals and has added Nikki to his staff along with Rob. Billy has the larger staff. Both are making improvements to there sites and both doing well. Can't go wrong with either in my opinion.

If you can, just join them both. Really hard to keep two recruiting services going at the same time at SMU, especially with the football program in the toilet. Not enough residual subscribers to make it profitable.

I don't like the "hilltopics" name for the rivals site... Would have preferred something more aggressive

I would say Scout has better content and more active discussion currently, Rivals really took a hit 6 months ago when Sam was publisher. Adam has made it respectable, but still think they lost a lot of subscribers during the downtime.

Billy does a great job and breaks a lot of stories and is always looking at ways to improve the site, well worth the nominal fee.

They are both pretty darn good right now. All of them are young and need some "seasoning" to see the big picture especially with regard to Texas. None of them see the big picture like E.J. did-that's why he got the jump to Texas Football

Did you ever think about working part time for one of the sites? Seriously.
