Proud to be a Marketing Major from Cox...

Also, nice giant picture of Dallas Hall (SMU and Georgetown only schools listed with pics)

Just curious, can the #4 ranked Marketing school in the nation create a plan to promote the Boulevard and SMU FB to Dallas?

SCP- I don't beleive that the 'vard needs any marketing. Seems to be pretty successful as it is. Now fball- that is a different story.

Honestly, I didn't think the June Cometh campaign in 2007 was that bad. It seemed SMU spent plenty on media buys. The only problem with the campaign was that it was centered around an individual (hindsight is always 20/20) that turned out to be pretty bad for the program. To the defense of the agency, I believe it was The Richards Group, SMU didn't have a lot of new exciting energy until that hire, so centering the campaign around the subject of all the new excitement was probably a good idea.

The SMU is ______/Dallas' Team was pretty much garbage. Also, not a fan of #declareyourtradition. I understand that it is supposed to help with social media participation, but the whole idea seems pretty half baked and the messaging is not real clear. And if they really wanted me to declare my tradition it would be something like this:

"The past three or four years I get real excited for the old SWC opponent game(s) (Tech, aTm, Baylor, etc.) then we get our [deleted] kicked. Then I get sad and then I start drinking." #declaredmytradition

IMHO, SMU's attendance success hinges much more on the on field product (consistently beating GOOD Opponents w/ Winning Records), rather than a witty and smart marketing campaign. See SMU Basketball (Big name hire and we started beating big name opponents).

With the new hire, we get to turn ANOTHER new page. Hopefully this time, this next chapter will have a happy ending. A nice marketing campaign is just the wrapping paper on the present (as far as college football goes).

I think the Blvd needs to be marketed to Dallas. We 5000 that attend the games and 10000 that stay on the Blvd know all about it but we need for the average Dallasite to know they can come and there is a place for them to eat, drink and then move into the stadium. I would imagine that most of those we need to attract do not know about the Blvd and how it works. There is no large parking area to tailgate like other stadiums so people do not know what to do. That is the group we need to reach. Get them to the Dart lot, bus them to the Blvd let them enjoy the show and then the game.

No! It's too busy promoting SMU's search for the god particle.
