Nic Moore

Post by purduedavie »

First off the kid is a winner always will be, followed him in high school love his game. Having said that, it seems to me that Nic is trying to do too much, forcing way to many things. If SMU is going to make the dance Nic needs to be the heady player I know he can be, it would help if he got his minutes cut but I guess he must not have a reliable back up, Mudiay not coming was a freaking killer! I think SMU if Kennedy returns will make the dance, simply to much talent to not be top 3 in that conference, I think this year if they're top 3 they get in, think they'll right the ship!

Love Nic, but can't wait until he finds his 2014 mojo.

Yeah too much on Nic. No senior leadership to help out when he needs it.
KF is looking much better and I was pleased to see him use his atheltiscm to drive and shoot. Not just snipe from 3 point range.

But Nic is alone on an island and it shows he can't do it all on his own.

No one misses Markus more than Nic. Those two developed a great chemistry last season. I think you'll see Nic's game improve a lot when MK returns.

We need to go on a very long hot streak when MK gets back. As we are all tired of losing.

Doesn't look like the same player, shots not falling and a turnover machine.

Seems like sometimes Nic did not want to pass the ball to KF. I think MK will stabilize the team more.

I felt the same way. He is coming along great though. Team will be tough with MK back. My question is what has happened to Sterling?

Said this in another post just now, but I think we can't overlook how good Nick R was for us last year, he could put the ball on the ground and knock down a mid range shot, defend big time scoring guards and take pressure off Nic to score and create offense in general

^^Agreed. Nic Moore struggles without a versatile big guy like MK. When he struggles he commits dumb fouls. When he commits dumb fouls he sits on the bench. When he sits on the bench we don't have anyone else who can play PG. The end of the first half last night was a perfect example as well as Louisville home game last year. Hopefully we can build up some momentum next few games until MK returns.

Most surprised by Nic's play so far this year - really bad 3 pt defense especially. I think part of it is forcing it and not having MK. I think another part of it is reading a bit too much of the headlines (Wooden?). I think he, and our team, plays much better in an underdog role/chip. Arky did, we didn't. Indy did, we didn't. I'm afraid that we are NIT bound again because we have now put so much pressure on ourselves by losing to Indy and Arky to play pretty much perfect the rest of the season (have to NOT lose any games at home or to lesser AAC foes AND beat Michigan) to make the dance.

I think the problem is the book is out on Nic's defense. Pretty much everyone now knows he can't contest their shot because of his height and he will play passive because he can't get fouls.
