The entire greek thing is a ridiculous waste of time and money. I wish we could just get rid of it.

I hear your opinion but I'll say that my best memories are associated with the Greek thing and not any events that smu threw. And it's not only parties that I associate those memories with. Everyone develops a cliche that they hang with. It's the same thing just larger and with money involved.

Wow that article is just plain embarrassing. How could anyone possibly put their name on that kind of "writing"?

Shocking In-Depth Reporting from DC

But it did have this Pulitzer Prize worthy gem;
"I knew a girl that was a Delta Gamma at SMU but transferred to USC to be a DG because it’s the top house," she said.

But at SMU, Delta Gamma is not considered a top tier sorority chapter. The top tier sororities at SMU are Theta, Kappa and Pi Phi, according to my classmate.

My colleague in the Division of Journalism, who asked not to be named, is 20 and from west Los Angeles. She has been through recruitment twice - and dropped out both times. She doesn’t want to speak on the record for fear of offending her friends who are in sororities.
Great job keeping anonymity for that person. There's got to be very few people on campus for whom the following is true:

20 years old
From West LA
journalism major
Dropped out of recruitment twice

Same thing for me.

Saturday, I'll be going to a SMU game with 2 of my brothers. 20 years later, we are still friends.

A woman who transfers schools just because she doesn't get into her sorority of choice needs to re-examine her priorities in life.

90% of the buildings/donations on the SMU campus were donated by former greek members. Good luck.

You mean to tell me that people with family money are the ones who choose to spend thousands as an undergrad on buying friends?

Wow!

Wow!
That's essentially what joining a professional organization for networking purposes is. Wish I understood that when I was at SMU.
