hardly a mention of it in reviews i read recapping the best games of the weekend, we didn't make the top 5

You had to see that coming. It's gonna sting for SMU fans for a while, but the rest of the country isn't going to care beyond a single news cycle. We might get a mention or two if there are some more examples of poor and/or controversial officiating, but that's about it. We've topped every list or breakdown of this year's officiating errors that I've seen, if that makes you feel better.

We are in the national consciousness now, if only in the back of peoples' minds at the moment. We all need to move on. Looking forward to next year.

As much as the death penalty is brought up every time a school get sanctions, I hope this game gets brought up every time there is a blown call.

FWIW -
The "Men in Blazers" show on NBCSP referenced the poor NCAA officiating when talking about the Man City v West Brom match where the ref gave a red card to the wrong guy. (Mistaken identity).
