NCAA series at Moody

Post by Pony Boss »

How realistic is it to get some tournament games to be played at Moody? Maybe 2nd and 3rd round games?

Not trying to be an arse, maybe you're kidding, but that will never happen. All NCAA tourney games are played in arenas. AAC and Jerry World are the only possible DFW sites.

Just saying because some games were played at Syracuse and Louisville. Thought Moody may get respect sometime.

Moody is nowhere near big enough to host an NCAA tournament game. The smallest arenas that host first and second round games are about twice as big as Moody

So the closest thing we could do is AAC or Jerry. Could we put the Mustang logo in the baseline like those teams do?

Respect isnt relevant. The Yum Center has a capacity of 22,000+ for basketball, it's the 3rd largest college basketball venue. The Carrier Dome holds 35,000+ and is the largest college basketball home venue. That's what matters, the number of seats they can sell. Moody holds less than a third of the capacity of the Yum Center, there is no way the NCAA would consider holding Tournament games in a venue less than twice the size of Moody. Not enough seats.

I think thats possible, if you are the host school. Although I dont think there was a Mustang Logo last year in Jerry World for the Final Four.

Did we host the final four last year, or did the Big 12? I don't think we did. They put the hosts logo on the floor for all tourney games except for the final four I believe

You've right, Big 12 was the official host. We just hosted the dunk contest and some of the sideshows, and one team used Moody for practice.

I saw both Rice and UH logos last night which is confusing since they are in separate conferences.

Each site is "hosted" by a school or conference. In the case of the Houston site, Rice and UH are co-hosting. In the case of the Arlington Final Four, the Big 12 Conference was the host.

Hope this helps

All of the 80s events at Reunion were hosted by the Southwest Conference, and not SMU if I remember correctly.

I don't think SMU has ever hosted one of these things on our own, not that I have any idea what that actually would entail.

I believe all of the American Airlines Center events were hosted by the Big 12-2. I never remember C-USA hosting any but I may be mistaken.

And yes, I agree the combo UH/Rice thing last night was strange - but it was nice to see they didn't find a way to feed it to the Big 12-2.
