Could UW Be Making A Move On Three-Star QB?
Scott Eklund
Dawgman.com
Over the past couple of weeks, things have picked up on the recruiting front for Milton (Alpharetta, Ga.) QB David Moore, a commit to SMU, and Washington could be one of the schools the rising signal-caller visits this fall...
"I'm still solidly committed to SMU, but I also am talking to other schools and making sure I made the right choice for me," Moore told Dawgman.com recently. "Washington has been talking to me for the past couple of weeks and coach (Jonathan) Smith told me they are evaluating me and checking off things and that they could be offering pretty soon."
Moore committed to SMU back in April, but since that time, he's received offers from schools that run the gamut of college programs including some Power Five programs -- Oregon State, Illinois, Syracuse, Utah and Wake Forest.
"I really like SMU's program and their coaches there," Moore noted. "I'm still talking with the other schools though and I'm looking at taking visits before I sign, so I'm not completely shut down or anything, but I am happy with my decision right now."
As far as Washington is concerned, Moore is pretty familiar with the area as he lived in the Puget Sound region for five years and he still has a good amount of family there as well.
"I was born up there and I lived in Sammamish (Wa.) until I was about five years old," Moore said. "My aunt (mom's sister) still lives up there and we go back up there to see her sometimes, so I know that area pretty well.
"I feel pretty comfortable with coach Smith and they play in the Pac 12, so that's pretty big too.

Apparently HCCM evaluated his talent earLier than others.

I hope HCCM is also looking at other QB's with the same attitude that Moore has- 'not seriously looking- just listening'.

His comments ominous, likely gone when/if bigger & better offers arrive.

Questions for those more knowledgable about the process than me.
How concerning is this? It certainly doesn't sound good.
Also, hasn't Moore been hitting up several others in his class encouraging them to come to SMU?

With the types of players HCCM is recruiting I would expect a lot more of this in the future. Especially when he finds am good player that everyone else starts to offer. I know we are kind of accustomed to players that are just thankful to get an offer. But this is uncharted territory for most SMU fans so get ready for multiple recruiting battles down to signing day in some cases. And SMU will also be trying to flip other schools players as well, like they did KT last year and Michael Clark this year.

Well said. I just hope we can hold onto Moore. He looks to be a pretty important piece to the puzzle.

Really?

Devastating to this class if it happens. He is Chad's hand picked guy, and a potential program changer, as I've said before.
We're about to see how strong their relationship really is. Hope we can hold onto him.

Encouraging. He seems like a guy with his head on straight.

We know you're hoping he decommits

If we land him, great, but it's not Armageddon if he flips. I think we got a really good QB in Ben Hicks last year and we're already in on some 2017 guys, not to mention I'm sure there's some 2016 QBs we have on the back burner now. I remember TCU used to lose guys left and right to bigger programs in the lead up to NSD while they were building up their program -- that's just how it goes. This was never as big of an issue with June because for the last two years we were recruiting scrubs with only 1 or 2 other FBS offers

Re: Could U-Dub Be Making A Move On Moore?
LOL. Devastating is hyperbole of the highest order if we lose Moore. We were able to get a kid in Hicks that had several P5 offers last year at the 11th hour on a non-official visit. It is six months until national signing day. I have a pretty good feeling Chad Morris and his staff would have zero trouble getting a quality QB to sign here if Moore goes elsewhere.
Back off Warchild seriously.
