Hart: still no word on NCAA sanctions

Post by skyscraper »

SMU hoops still waiting: The Mustangs have not heard from the NCAA regarding possible sanctions on the basketball and golf programs. School officials met with the Committee on Infractions in June, responding to a list of allegations. The NCAA often announces its findings within six to eight weeks.

Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown reportedly could be cited for "lack of control" if it is determined he knew that former assistant Ulric Maligi and a former secretary helped guard Keith Frazier with course work. Frazier, from Kimball, was ruled academically ineligible in January and missed the rest of his sophomore season.

Once a decision is made, SMU can accept or appeal the findings.

"We're not even at that stage of the process yet," Hart said. "I don't know anything more about the timing and when we might advance that process than anyone else does."

They have nothing to warrant a serious sanction so the powers that be are stringing this along to maximize the amount of damage they can do to us. Anyone wonder if they will hit Briles with a failure to monitor for his assistant being on the sideline?

Yep, I feel like the dragging out and cloud it puts over recruiting will be way more damaging than the actual penalties themselves at this point. :(

Sounds like lack of institutional control to me!

At Baylor you only get in trouble if you murder someone.

Justice delayed is justice denied. Right to a speedy trial. Something like that.

Only if your coach is unsuccessful in covering it up and blaming the victim.
