SMU pay rates

http://chronicle.com/interactives/execu ... 13_private

Larry Brown, Basketball Coach $2,235,304
June Jones, Coach, Football $1,977,439
R. Gerald Turner, President $1,089,906
Michael A. Condon, University Treasurer, $612,700
Albert Niemi Jr., Dean $607,860
Timothy Jankovich, Basketball Coach $571,517
William Dillon, Sr Assoc Dean Business $547,981
Miguel Quinones, Professor $525,010
Brad E. Cheves, Vp Development And E $474,456
Paul W. Ludden, Provost/vp Academic $453,865

Those are some excellent salaries! Are Niemi and Dillon (never heard of him) worth $1.2M between them? I also hadn't heard of Miguel Quinones but he's a highly regarded teacher in Cox. He has one published paper over the last five years but one's in progress! He also leads the SMU Cox CEO Sentiment Survey.

TCU's president made $1.4M which seems overpaid at 37x a year's tuition vs. 25x for RGT.

Dillon is highly regarded and probably makes at least as much in consulting gigs as his salary...........

Bill Dillon is the man. Mickey Q travels all over the place doing training /consulting for Anadarko Halliburton Schlumberger etc. He's an HR/human capital expert among other things. One not on the list who I'm sure is up there is Tassu Shirvani

Hope so. We should not be paying June a dime and Morris deserves something.

$600K+ for the university treasurer? Most CFOs don't make that much.

For Cheves, how much of that is variable compensation (pay depends upon amount raised)?

I believe Condon manages all of SMU's investments, including the endowment of $1.4b. You can also see him at just about every bball and fball game.

Larry has been worth every dollar he's been paid.
