Great game
Great game you guys, loved the atmosphere and the way your team competed. Shame with the postseason ban, I really think you guys could've made a great run in the tourney this year (not saying you won't in the future). It was so frustrating to watch the end of the game as a UH fan, but that is what the better teams do, find ways to win.
It is like our schools are total opposites when it comes to football and basketball...we struggle to get 1000 fans to our basketball games it is embarrassing. I hope Sampson continues to build the program, we will not begin attracting fans until we are a consistent winner unfortunately. Did you all begin getting good bball crowds right after Larry Brown was hired or did it take a while?

It took new moody and the perfect storm of winning. LB's first season at old moody was an improvement but you could still hear individual conversations from across the court.

Thanks. I'm sure your attendance will improve after the renovation, see Moody. As for your team, Sampson has put together a talented group. I think you can make the tournament but that Grand Canyon loss is a killer.

Yes our facility definitely doesn't do us any favors...a $65MM renovation plan has been approved but will not be done for a couple years of course.

Re: Great game
If I remember correctly, I think our average attendance jumped to around 3,500 Larry's first year and turned into sellouts once New Moody opened. Houston is in the same position as SMU in that we are in big cities competing against major sports. Fans are accustomed to the luxury amenities provided by pro sports venues and we have to match that on a college level.
You need to get that redo going asap and you also need to choose the proposal that would change it from round to conventional. TCU just blew a wad of cash on their round POS and it still looks stupid. Round doesn't work and I remember seeing 3 proposals with the 3rd one fixing that.

Re: Great game
I attribute the stark turnaround to a simultaneous (same season) confluence of three key items:
1) Godfather
2) New Moody (Magic)
3) BEER!!!

As smusic posted, it was a perfect storm - LB, winning, playing teams the average sports fan cares about, beer, a beautifully renovated arena and getting ranked.

A classy and respectful UH fan? What sorcery is this? I've become so accustomed to CargoGunki's internet diarrhea.
A great game indeed - Houston hit more tough, contested shots than I could count and did a great job sharing the ball.
Looking forward to the rematch on Feb. 1st.

Haha, I hope you haven't based all your opinions of UH fans on CargoGunki (aka cougar king), most of us are embarrassed when we see his antics on opponents' message boards...looking forward to the rematch as well.

Re: Great game
Just answer me one burning question:
What in the hell was the thought behind not fouling for 15 seconds when the play started with 31 seconds down by 4.

Was impressed by how his team played (and responded to the pressure of Moody) and thought he had toughtful comments in his presser. As long as he can control his texting I think Houston is definitely on the upswing (especially if they sign Allen).

I think he will have them ranked next year.
