Good for him, he's come a long way.

He is too slow to ever touch the field in the SEC. But he will enjoy being around a big time program, so if you have a year left why not?

Thats code for too slow. You don't need a slow possession receiver if you can start a fast one.

Well the question you've got to ask is would Saban take a graduate transfer just to be a practice dummy or maybe he sees him on the 2 deep somewhere

Probably told him he is the best receiver he has ever seen and a first round draft pick.

Saban can get just about anyone he wants. Dieter had 7 catches against Tenn & 10 against Purdue.
Although not a speedster, he has plenty of speed for a big reciever with good hands. http://youtu.be/aOmPCThyU_A

You would have said the exact same thing about Richard Mullaney this year.

Good for Dieter, Phillips may have been the worst of June's crappy bunch.

Re: Dieter to Bama!
Two facts :
Phillips was a poor coach.
Dieter will never see the field at Alabama.

Yeah, you're probably right. I believe Saban reserves a couple scholarships per year for graduate transfers who just want to observe from the sideline, mooch a scholarship, and enjoy being around his big time program.
I doubt Nick even bothered to watch Dieter's film, or assess the needs of his roster. It's not about championships for Mr. Saban, it's about humanitarianism and equal opportunity.

The article didn't say he was going to be on scholarship, did it?

Actually, that was pretty humorous for a Monday morning...and spot on. Saban only does those things that increase the chance to win. That is also one reason he is vilified by the opposition, and beloved by Alabama fans.
No bell cow RB returning? Saban will adapt, and win. I'll bet dollars to donuts that Dieter DOES get playing time, and not just mop-up duty. Alabama will make this limited investment work
