Losing by 3 in OT to a high scoring Tulsa team is not bad
Outside of Ohio State the team held Tulsa (who has a good QB) to their lowest point total this year. Yes, there were some throws that got away from Hicks but not as many as in the past games. Hicks spread the ball around to 10 DIFFERENT RECEIVERS. That is really good. Minor played well as did the entire defensive line imo. As far as the O line goes almost everyone knew that June, Palcic and Mason did not recruit very athletic offensive lineman but the are doing the best they can. I agree that sometimes your best is not good enough when you are not very athletic or quick. While not perfect the secondary continues to play well. Colbert will be back in 2 weeks and can alternate with Hicks sometimes to give SMU more of a dual threat at QB. All in all I think we will see progress as the year goes on and players improve. That being said progress may not equal wins because we are not in CUSA anymore but the team will improve imo.

Last night showed vast improvements. Nothing more. A lose still hurts. Playing better helps confidence. WE are about to get another tough game in Houston. Hopefully the week off will allow us to heal and be much better prepared.

No thanks on Colbert

Just saying that he gives the offense a different look. Not saying he should start or play most of the game. It could cause problems for defenses in some cases.

The coaches played not to lose and did. 3rd and 8 inside the 15 with 25 seconds left and the coaches called a draw play to set up a tying field goal. That is lame.

Yup, I think it was overall a much better showing than what we've seen the last few weeks. Little by little we have to get these really young guys experience, and this is it.

(2-4; 0-2) is the same no matter how it's earned. The players upped their efforts in practice, and in the game, and play-calling ultimately cost us a game we should have won. There is a limit on how many times that can happen before players stop responding to a coach's challenges.

I am looking forward to another chance to go 1-0 on October 2.

As far as play calling is concerned, the announcers indicated that HCCM called the offensive plays last year and he told them that he was turning over the play calling to Cpach Craddock this year. Coach Craddock will get better as the season goes on imo.

I look forward to playing Navy the last game of the year with a chance to be 1-0 and end the season undefeated.

At the end of the game:
LT - backup - the RT was forced to move over
LG - Starter
C - backup - Fister is third string
RG - backup - Wilds is at best third string
RT - backup - The RG was forced into duty because Wilds can't play tackle yet.
Simply put, the OL cannot consistently generate the push necessary to power the ball in the red zone. When the safeties and LBs don't have to worry about the deep ball, the flood the zone making it very hard to throw inside.
