Time to step it up over there
First of all, what a great sports weekend for the Ponies -- big road win in football and two great wins for hoops -- in dominating fashion.
Now, I am going to fire away because the kids and coaches -- and fans -- deserve better. Much better.
Walked into Moody on opening night. PUMPED UP! Looked above me in the exterior entrance to see nine lights BURNED out. Nine. I have LED bulbs on the exterior of my house that last 22 years. It's opening night, fix the damn light bulbs. I am sure you can find some that will last the season. No lights are burned out in Dallas Hall entry -- or any other campus building, I am guessing. That's minor, but still bad.
Fan shop. Not one single SMU basketball item. Nothing. Not one 2016-17 shirt. Not one replica jersey or pair of shorts -- and we have these really cool new Nike uniforms with watermarks in them. B&N replies to say "coming soon" there will be TWO items? Did the season sneak up on them? Two items? We are 53-4 at home in the last 57 games. You'd think we were 4-53 looking in that store.
Football team is 5-5, now playing the two division leaders in the AAC back to back over the holiday week -- FOR A BOWL BERTH! Was there a SINGLE game highlight and promotional spot during either of the basketball games this weekend? Nope. Was Chad Morris at the Sunday game (give him a mic during a timeout)? Nope. We just gave away pizza and video games. No mention of the football team. That's just lazy. Or are the football games sold out?
Both football and basketball deserve better support from the staff. We have FIVE wins in football. Despite a couple of bad losses, it's been a great year of growth. And the hoops team is REALLY good, even tho the media doesn't know that yet.
Time to step it up, boys and girls.

Not that it's an excuse, but we were probably obligated to heavy promotion of this 2K17 video game because they are the sponsors of the tournament we are in.

Plus the free oil change. I'm sure that's what every kid wants. Hope it included the filters.

Agree and Agree.

How many PONYFANS does it take to change a lightbulb?

I purchased 4 tickets to the "World Light Bulb Changers" event at Stout NYC...looking forward to learning the complexities of changing said light bulbs...

Nice job at the football game last night -- in fact, best I've noticed -- of promoting both men's and women's basketball. And, the next football game even! Credit where credit is due. Some video would have helped, I will say. Plenty of hoops highlights from first part of the season. Our best player is someone who didn't play last season. But, at least it's on the agenda. Onward.

So, does anyone have a recap of the light bulb changers spotlight? Are we changing the world one light bulb at a time?

not sure about that but I did like the most recent commercials featuring SMU grads much more than that "no such thing as a lesser person" ad. My initial reaction was "how hypocritical is that?"
