Atmosphere
- The complete silence when there is a stoppage in play is horrible. There is a several second gap between stoppage and either music or band. No coordination. And music isn't pump up music. Finally did 7 nations at the very end of the game and that was good. I don't know what is going on with the game presentation, but this was awful.
- Part of the reason for the lack of energy from the crowd is the lack of energy and confidence from the players. That starts on the defensive end. We stepped it up at the end, but for most of the game nobody was diving for a ball, no energy, just very... chill. We don't get in players faces, we aren't physical, and we don't force turnovers. That is what drove the crowd before. It isn't there yet with this team. When the team's intensity picked up at the end of the game, so did the crowd.
Hopefully we see the team gain confidence and emotion as the season goes on, because that was missing until the last 5 minutes.

You were in a different Moody this evening. Good energy and nice work by the Mob. Enjoy the win and the moment.

jason - there is no way else to say this, but you are wrong. They did 7 nations early in the first half. Once all the students got there it was pretty pumped up. The constant mimic of TCU coach was big fun, and the team played with the best energy of the year. THis may not be your sport.

I appreciated the crowd filling in and the Mob harassing the coach. But the silence was deafening in the first half, especially when there was a stoppage and the music didn't start right away. No buzz. Like I said, it got going at the end of the game, but the first half seemed dead to me.
The students filled in the middle, but lots of empties behind one basket, and the section next to the band was all teachers it looked like, not students, and they sat down the entire game.
Even when they did 7 nations in the first half, it died immediately when play started. When they did it at the end of the game, the crowd carried it after the music stopped.
Maybe it is because of where my seats are this year (I added a seat and had to move)? The intensity just didn't seem to be there for the first 3/4 of the game.

Re: Atmosphere
What the horse guy said. Crowd arrived late. We consistently led the Froggies all night
long
Moody Magic was stored up, and then unleashed late to make the 8-0 froggies 8-1
Was surprised so many students were there with exams looming. I remember feeling guilty
about going to Moody to see World Championship Tennis just before final exams with a free
ticket given in the cafeteria. Maybe an easy test the next day.

Re: Atmosphere
Like has there been crazy crowds at Moody, yes. Was the crowd slow to arrive, yes. Could some of the presentation be better, yes.
With all that said, the mob got pretty loud and the crowd once they showed up did a good job. It was a good environment tonight. I'm pumped we got the big win.

Re: Atmosphere
Our ability to coordinate band/cheer/pom has been pathetic for years. You can have 3 different D-Fence chants going at once and not in unison cause the cheer and pom and band in different locations have no-one to coordinate/lead.
The game presentation overall is lacking but I thank the Mob as they did a good job and when needed, brought the energy.
You would think that internally SMU would have departments that you could assign to these things and we could have the best going. Like the player intro. Great the first year with "Coming Home"or whatever it's called, and then moving forward to zip. Nada, Zilch. Pitiful. Band looks like they are mixed up and don't know when to go after a time-out or the end of pom/cheer routines. It's the little things that ultimately count and we have dropped the ball for a long time.

Well, the "others" certainly were not the cadavers in the red seat section. Looked and acted like the Old Moody blue seat section. They offer nothing in the way of support except MONEY. "W" is our most enthusiastic over-65 fan.

Re: Atmosphere
I stand behind the band every game. Have been doing it for 3 years now. The crowd that sits along the baselines, at least the crowd on my side, was TERRIBLE last night. I can't tell you how many times I made comments to them about standing up, making noise, etc. It took 2 free throws before 25% of them decided to pay attention and hold up their "Acme Bricks." What's worse, most of these fans were younger. Some even looked like students that spilled over from the MOB. I'm not talking about 80 year olds sitting on their hands.
It wasn't always this way. People in the lower bowl (along the baselines) used to stand most of the game and make noise. Now, the seats are filled with folks that are too busy chatting and browsing on their phones to bother experiencing the game. I've seen this change over the past couple years, and it's not encouraging.
Great win, though, for the Mustangs last night. Always good to beat the Frogs.
