Temple Fans not Impressed

Post by PonyTime »

http://www.scout.com/college/temple/forums/3506-cherry-and-white/15386763-smu-game-thread?s=186&page=7

A few select comments:

"I'm also with those that aren't overly impressed in SMU. It's hard to see them winning more than a game in the NCAA tournament."

"I don't think Cincinnati or SMU are very good I don't think I'm picking them in my bracket good 5 vs 12 upsets"

"I'm not convinced this SMU team is that good either."

I guess they were not impressed with Florida State or West Virginia either, since they were obviously worse than Temple.

Best comment of the thread:

"Dunphy gives the classiest 'losing coach' handshake around."

Most WTF? Comment of the threads (explaining lack of recent student attendance at games):

"Seems like most are not sports fans. Some of it has to do with culture. There were three times as many Asians in the library than there were non Asian students at the USF game. Maybe we need a Ken Jung Day instead of Hooters Birthday."

If that was the only game you have watched from SMU (any for many Temple fans, this may be only the 2nd time) we were not impressive. Semi was impressive, but our team looked poor.

I wonder how many games they think Temple will win in the NCAA?

This was a horrible game to watch. The level of basketball was awful compared to the game on ESPN1. Glad we got that game out of our system before Sunday.

I feel sorry for Temple fans.

Great program, epic history and with one bad year it seems like nobody cares about their team much.
The place was basically empty. Students rolled in late and seemed to care more about winning sub sammiches and t-shirts than cheering. People sitting near me seemed resigned to losing.

They barely got going the two times Temple pulled within 6 points and were easily silenced by one good series on our part.

Their players played hard and hustled throughout and I have little doubt Temple will be far more relevant again soon.

Not sure why people think the Temple program is somehow elite (certainly not "epic"). Way better history than SMU, but they have been to 2 Finals Fours. They have done a good job of making the tournament, but the results in the Tournament.....pretty average.

Didn't they say last night that Temple is the 5th winningest program of all time behind NC,Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas? (Not necessarily in order)
That is worth some kudos.

Yep, showed their little banner they had for it.

SMU was anything but impressive last night...yet still won by 16. If SMU brings their A game, that's a 30 point victory if not worse tbh.

Hey! They play a tougher schedule than we do and have more quality wins.

While maybe not as dramatic as UCONN, they've had some key injuries.

Alston and that other tall, skinny dude off the bench can play. Not so sure about the shortie who started.

They will be back.

Just sayin.... we need them to be good.

Who's Ken Jung? Ken Jeong went to Duke and will not be hosting a day at Cosby U.

Tune in to ESPN Sun at 3pm and they will be impressed!

I think this is going to be our best game of the year so far - #ponyup

Can't say I blame them for being unimpressed. That was not one of our better games but hey, it's a road win and those are hard to come by in any league
