Where are all those...

Post by hoopmanx »

who said we should have appealed? Other than getting it over and program momentum, the reason we didnt appeal was b/c Sterling/Ben are the first 4 year guys of this era. Imagine appealing ban for their senior year

Are there people who still think that? I thought everyone pretty much realized we had to take our medicine and move on.

honestly, there were more than a few of those sentiments at 4-3. Its not really an I told you so thread, as much as 'we're a program now,' think that way.

Speaking of program, where are we as far as number of scholarships we've given up so far? We had to give up 7 over three years, right?

Uh, yeah, this is an I told you so thread. What's the point if not that?

I'll admit I said it. But I also said that the appeal should be dropped if we didn't win by tournament time. My point was simply that not appealing by the initial deadline meant we foreclosed the option. Appealing meant that there was a possibility we'd win by tourney time in whole or in part, or could potentially negotiate down some of the other restrictions in exchange for dropping appeal.

Good call. He seems really good at keeping track of everyone's opinions and hidden reasons for said opinions so I am sure he will have a list of who felt this way.

I'll admit - my first reaction was wanting to appeal - especially since the NCAA Sucks so bad, I wanted us to fight their B..S.. But upon taking a step back, understood the strategery [sic] of taking our medicine, even if it meant knuckling under to the racketeers of the NCAA.

Glad we took this course.

He was one of the appeal backers. He even brought it up after we lost to Boise and Michigan

Its not I told you so, its that it was the right thing to do, if just for Sterling and Ben. You admitted your part in all that, you've been absolved other than the fact God hates you b/c you cheer for Dook.

If we had appealed, would Larry still be coaching here?

I might be off with this analysis - but Larry wanted to appeal and SMU did not. That may have started the tension between SMU and LB that led to whatever riders that SMU wanted in Larry's new contract about future violations. LB then had enough of it all and said - "I'm done".

I often wonder if we would be 24-4 with Larry as HC playing Larry's version of BBall with this particular squad.

I, for one, am glad that we did not appeal and that Jank is coaching this team.

I think we can all agree that PonyFans probably shouldn't be making important decisions...

At the time I selfishly (and quietly) kind of wanted an appeal, but the realist in me always knew that getting it over with would be the best option long-term.
