More Valuable Player -- Semi or Nic?

Post by ponyboy »

Obviously totally different basketball players, but which one would you consider more valuable? Do not include the fact that Nic was here for years and we've only seen one year from Semi. Just which one would you pick for your college basketball team?

Imagine a world with no sanctions and Semi joins that team after sitting out from transfer. And Maybe KF didn't leave.

WHAT A FREAKIN SQUAD.

Great topic.

My SMU fan heart says Nic, but my SMU fan head says Semi.

Nic was here longer and there's more of an emotional connection but if I am building a college basketball team from scratch, I'm picking Semi. I don't know that we will see another player like him at SMU anytime soon.

Nic Moore, no doubt in my mind. All the scoring ability and all the intangibles. His will to win was the difference in a lot of games. He changed the momentum in games more times than I can count. Just a settling presence on the court. I think the thing that did strike me after he left was that his size may have been a liability on the defensive side of the ball. Having said that, I think you can build a team around a guy with his heart and ability. Taking nothing away from Semi, but you asked...

Good question. Don't think you could go wrong having to start a team around either guy. Both skilled, with alot of confidence and work hard. If I had the player for 3-4 years I would 100% pick Semi, because of his upside. If it was for one season it would be close, but probably go with Semi, because Nic struggled defensively and Semi is such a talented scorer in multiple ways and more versatile. Close call though, could go either way. If it was for just one game or last 2 minutes, Nic Moore, no question.

Absolutely Nic. No question. As great as Semi is/was, you can't match Nic's contributions over three seasons in a single season.

If we're talking single season I'd probably still have to give the edge to Nic, though it's a tougher call.

Even if Semi comes back next year he'd have a tough time topping Nic, but it could be much closer.

If Nic was playing against USC, is there anyway he doesn't take the last shot? Nic was an alpha dog and a leader. He is the MVP, but Semi is a better overall talent and player

Two greats but I don't think it is fair to say which is most valuable. Nic has accomplished more and Semi has sacrificed more.

Nic was our best player for three years and our conferences' best for two. Nic was the most clutch SMU bballer I've ever seen. He embraced being the man, and I loved that about him. We need to have #11 retired today.

Semi gave up two years to finally get on the floor. He had a phenomenal season winning AAC POY and leading us to the tourney. He's only played here one season but he has the highest ceiling of sny player since our basketball rebirth.

Both guys are/were extremely important in getting this program to where it is now. I'm just glad both are Mustangs.
