Because he actually retired almost 25 years ago and he's already in the Hall of Fame, maybe? Bring the dude back for Eric Dickerson Day. Awesome. Put him in your team Hall of Fame. Even better. But the whole one day contract to retire as a member of your team this far after his career? Sorry. They missed the window when that would have made any sense by well over two decades.
Its smart as Hades! Even a one day contract at the League Minimum is a lot more than most of us make in a week or two. Even a rookie one day contract is worth $1274. And he is a HOF veteran. Probaly get a lot more.
