John Chavis as DC?

Post by Rebel10 »

If Arkansas hires Grinch from Washington State as DC that would leave Chavis without a job. SMU could possibly get him. At least it would be worth a shot imo. Just a thought.

Would have earned 8 times the last few years had his defenses been any good.

He currently earns zero dollars because he is unemployed. And if Arkansas does not hire him he will continue to earn zero dollars. I would rather have SMU money than no money.

Is SMU so lowly that someone would rather stay unemployed that work for a D1 school?

Unfortunately you are right. In the past thirty years we've successfully positioned ourselves to the point we are relevant only to a few fans and posters...just where our administration wants us. What I find really sad most of us just want to blame our coaches. There has been only one constant in this mess and he's made of Teflon.

there are actually a bunch of schools with coordinator jobs that are still unsettled and in same situation as SMU ie waiting for signing date on Wednesday and/or the completion of a bowl game the future coach may be coaching in

Exactly.

Furthermore, there are going to be a lot of coaches let go after National Signing Day and/or bowl games. Coaches with options are likely waiting to find out what jobs open up.

Since any DC isn't going to coach in the Bowl or affect National Signing Day, I would rather wait for the right guy than settle for a guy because he was willing to jump ship today.

DO NOT WANT Chavis, aka 3rd and Chavis.

I'm a long time LSU fan and Chavis was only good in Baton Rouge because Louisiana creates a tons of NFL talent. Without the Patrick Petersons and Honey Badgers of the world Chavis' mediocrity would have been exposed. Chavis' 4th quarter prevent D cost LSU, TN and A&M plenty of games and the defensive line performance deteriorated YOY at LSU under his leadership. He also hates recruiting so in total he's a big over rated flop. Let Arky have him and watch them suffer.
