Where is Nolan Richardson?

If we are going to do this, we have to get it right. I am totally against hiring an assistant or moderately succsfull small school coach (Dement). The Daddy Warbucks need to pony up and throw some serious cash at someone who is a proven program builder. If we don't start winning in the major sports soon, catastrophe awaits. Time is running out and we can't gamble on the unproven. I bet Nolan could come in here and recruit a tourney team pronto. You would also get the publicity we so desperatly need immediatly.

What poison is worse than mediocrity? He drove me nuts at Arkansas, but I dont like Arkansas. He started Tulsa on their road to succes and won a National Championship at Arkansas. I'll drink that poison any day.

Bad fit, he would never come. Did you guys forget, this is the guy who ripped SMU publicly for making Shumate play a "fire the coach schedule". Big names aside, Jimmy Tubbs is our man.

I started to say some things that would get me in trouble but let me just say as one who witnessed Nolan at Arkansas during both good and bad times, that even IF we could get him here, we do not want him. Period, end of statement. Why do we not just try to back Coach Dement until he is no longer our coach be it this year, next year, or future years. We are all Mustangs, including him. This team can still perform if they wish and hopefully they will show some pride as the season continues.

The man has had a mediocre tenure here with admittedly mediocre talent, but this year's team has some talent, they've apparently quit or at least have gone into a team wide depression of some sort. Maybe he needs to get some swami or Dr. Phil to come out and change their chi or their psychoneuralbsstuff.

Nolan would never consider SMU because the recruiting requirements are so high. As a rule, SMU requires its athletes to at least read and write at the 3rd grade level. That type of academic prowess would intimidate Nolan.
