IF nothing else, why doesn't SMU take a flier and try something novel. Hell, Tulsa hired John Phillips from a local high school. Jimmy Tubbs knows SMU, he is a fixture in the Dallas hoops community and he now has a few years of experience under one of the most respected coaches around in Kelvin Sampson. Its something the Mustangs aren't very familiar with these days, a slam dunk, without a big price tag either.
